The design side.

No shooting lately. Most of my time has been spent designing promos (samples below) for the Special Needs Spartan Race. It allows me to use my PR & marketing background, in connection with my photography…foreground. Anybody need a one-man shop? Still, it’s pretty cool to see my images used in promotional materials; it’s even cooler to see some of the locations I’ll be traveling to with the Spartan team this year.

At the same time, it brings up an interesting point. When shooting fast-paced events, how often do we shoot with purpose? Instead of just trying to make nice pictures, or even worse, just banging away on the shutter button, how cognizant are you that your image may be used in a promotional setting? Leaving room for copy isn’t something I’ve thought about until recently, not to mention, the color of the background, depth of field, and most of all, how many waivers need to be signed based on people in the image. Food for thought.

Anyway, we’re taking the Special Needs race across the country, and I can’t wait to create some compelling content and imagery along the way.
